What if the HK government forces schools to return to online learning? In the event the Hong Kong government or EDB require schools to move to online only, we must follow their instructions. If this happens, all students who signed up for in-person classes and are affected by this change will receive a 10% credit rebate. If only part of the course is forced online by EDB or government order, then the credit rebate will be prorated according to the percentage of teaching hours online vs. offline. Don't hesitate to call or WhatsApp us at 9835 8011 for more information!

Will Summer 2022 courses be in-person?Yes, our courses in Hong Kong will be conducted in-person! We have been given approval by the EDB to reopen in-person lessons starting April 25. Our staff is 100% vaccinated (2+ doses). All staff and visitors will have to use the Leave Home Safe app to register their arrival at our center, and teachers and students will have to take regular rapid antigen tests. For any students who prefer to work with us online, either because they feel safer or are spending the summer outside of Hong Kong, they are 100% welcome to attend the course online. During the summer of 2021, we helped many students in Bali, Hawaii, Taiwan, and elsewhere -- these students scored up to 1580 on their SATs without ever meeting us in person! Finally, we will be offering online only courses at times convenient for US students. Please see the section of our flyer marked "US SAT Programs" and "US SSAT Programs" for details!

Should I take SAT or ACT?The best way to find out is to contact us for a free diagnostic test! For students taking the test outside of the US, the SAT is usually the right choice as the ACT has moved to a computer-based format that most students find awkward: no scrap paper for math, clunky annotation tools, and noisy test centers in inconvenient places. For students taking the test in the US, the ACT may be a more viable option. Dragon Prep has more than 30 students with ACT scores of 34+ and 7 students with perfect 36s. We also have more than 46 students with SAT scores above 1500, including 4 scoring 1580+ in the past two years alone. So whichever test you take, we are ready to help you do your best!

When should I take the SAT?Ultimately the answer varies from student to student based on academic and extracurricular commitments. Some key points to consider: • Most students should take their first SAT in August at the beginning of G11/Y12 • Some students reach their target after one attempt, but most need 2 or 3 attempts • Students should avoid taking the SAT during IB mocks or AP exams Don't hesitate to contact us at +852 9835 8011 or info@thedragonprep.com if you'd like to arrange a call with Edward to discuss ideal test dates.

What's the difference between Dragon Prep's various SAT courses?Dragon Prep offers five kinds of SAT courses to fit the needs of all kinds of students! SAT Boot Camp is our flagship course: it offers 78 total hours of SAT prep over two weeks with thorough instruction in grammar, core math topics, reading skills, test-taking strategies, and pattern recognition for questions and passages. SAT Intensive is a 7 day course that balances strategy, practice, and mock examinations. This course can serve as an introductory course for students who will later take Boot Camp or as a refresher course for students who took Boot Camp beforehand. SAT Sprint is a 7 day half day course that (as its name implies) moves very quickly through the most important SAT content. While this course is not as comprehensive as Boot Camp, it fits nicely into many students' travel schedules. SAT Cram consists of proctored mock exams and instructor-led review. It allows students to practice applying strategies under test conditions while building stamina and confidence. The review sessions review test-taking techniques and clear up any confusion students experienced in the passages and questions. SAT Unmasked is a short course taught by Edward that teaches his most advanced test-taking tactics and offers insights into the most challenging aspects of the SAT, for example the history passages. It is ideal for students who are striving for Ivy League and T10 scores!

When should I take the ACT?Ultimately the answer varies from student to student based on academic and extracurricular commitments. Some key points to consider: • Most students should take their first ACT in September at the beginning of G11/Y12 • Some students reach their target after one attempt, but most need 2 or 3 attempts • Students should avoid taking the ACT during IB mocks or AP exams Don't hesitate to contact us at +852 9835 8011 or info@thedragonprep.com if you'd like to arrange a call with Edward to discuss ideal test dates.

What's the difference between Dragon Prep's various SSAT courses?Dragon Prep offers three kinds of SSAT courses to fit the needs of all kinds of students! SSAT Boot Camp is redesigned for the Summer of 2022! We are integrating all of our strategies, vocabulary, mock exams, and other instructional content into one two-week course. We think this will be the most productive experience for students prepping for the SSAT in 2022! SSAT Sprint is our most popular course: a 7 day half day course that (as its name implies) moves very quickly through the most important SSAT content. By the end of this course, students will understand the mechanics of the test, the most important test-taking and elimination strategies, and the core topics in math. However, the SSAT is a grueling exam that keeps getting harder, and most students will need additional work to drive their scores to the highest level possible. SSAT Cram consists of proctored mock exams and instructor-led review. It allows students to practice applying strategies under test conditions while building stamina and confidence. The review sessions review test-taking techniques and clear up any confusion students experienced in the passages and questions. If you'd like to speak with Edward about which course is right for your student, don't hesitate to contact us at +852 9835 8011!

When should I take the SSAT?Students should aim to take the SSAT up to three times between August and December of the autumn before they submit their applications. The standard test dates available to students in Hong Kong are October, November, December, January, and February. Some students, especially those attending junior boarding school in the US, may have access to a "flex test" or a test in August. Students who prepare intensively during the summer should take their first SSAT exam as soon as possible after completing summer lessons. For most students, this means October. Given the rigors of SSAT and the competitiveness of boarding school admissions, students should plan to retake the test in November and possibly even December. This is normal even for top students. Although January and February tests will count towards the application, the test results will not arrive until after the application has been submitted, which means the extent to which they will contribute to a student's application is questionable. Finally, students may choose to take Spring tests in April or June before beginning intensive test preparation. These tests don't count toward the application but offer great practice and a very realistic diagnostic score. As always, don't hesitate to reach out to +852 9835 8011 if you have additional questions!
